Forming Sheet Plastic Materials
‘Vacuum Forming’
The above video clip is an excerpt from an “educational service film” produced by the O’Neil-Irwin Manufacturing Co. in the 1950's. The machine you see being used to form the plastic is an early version of the Di-Acro® plastic press produced by them. Later versions had a heater box at the top of the unit to heat the plastic. These machines were commonly found in the industrial education departments of schools. They have not been manufactured in a long time, but every once in a while you can buy one used at auction.

Built by Houdille Industries.
The Di-Acro® machine is similar
to one detailed in the book. . .
'Secrets of Building a Plastic Vacuum Forming Machine'.
